The University of Banja Luka welcomed the delegation from the city of Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) consisting of the first Vice-Rector of the State Academy of Agriculture, Prof. Dr Vladimir Beschetnov, the Director of the International Innovation Agency from the Privolzhsky Federal District, Mr. Yuri Smorodov and the Editor-in-chief of the Venturevolga.com portal designed for promoting investments, Mr. Alexander Blagov, who will be staying at the University of Banja Luka from June 2nd till June 6th. The official welcome was organized on the premises of the Rectory. The Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Stanko Stanic, and the first Vice-Rector of the State Academy of Agriculture signed a Contract on Cooperation between these two institutions of higher education.
The official welcome and the signing of the contract were attended by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Valerija Saula, and the management of the Faculty of Agriculture: Dean Aleksandar Ostojic, the Vice-Dean for International Cooperation and Scientific Research, Dr Miljan Cvetkovic, and the Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr Nebojsa Savic.
Expressing the gratitude for the contract signed, the hosts and the guests agreed upon the mutual interest for cooperation not only regarding the Faculty of Agriculture but also other faculties of the University.
Having briefly presented the State Academy of Agriculture, Prof. Beschetnov pointed out that students of the University of Banja Luka were welcomed at their institution, which has almost 85 years long tradition and remarkable results in the domain of scientific and research work and specialization of the students in the field of agriculture.
He also said that the students who decide to enroll at the Academy would be provided with the Russian language lessons.
Rector Stanic also expressed the readiness of the University of Banja Luka to host the students of the State Academy of Agriculture, adding that the oncoming scientific and professional seminar ‘Students Meeting the Science’ might be the first opportunity for exchanging knowledge and experiences, as well as for meeting of the young academics from these two institutions.
After the meeting in the Rectory, the guests from Nizhny Novgorod were welcomed at the Faculty of Agriculture, where they were informed about the work and the history of the Faculty, study programmes, human resources and results achieved.
Emphasizing that the Faculty supports all types of cooperation with the institutions the guests came from, Dean Ostojic reminded all the present of the fact that agriculture was one of the strategic branches of industry of the Republic of Srpska, and that nowadays many young people opt to study this field, which is evident in the number of the people enrolling on the Faculty, which, unfortunately, cannot admit all of the candidates who wish to enroll. The Dean also said that the Faculty also paid a lot of attention to its staff and their scientific and research work. Traditionally, the Faculty organizes the symposium and the scientific and professional consultancy activities of the agronomists of the Republic of Srpska.
