At the sports hall on the campus of the University of Banja Luka, “Student Sport Games 2014” were officially closed yesterday. The closing ceremony of the event, organised by the Student Parliament, was attended by the RS Prime Minister, Ms Zeljka Cvijanovic, the Minister of Education and Culture, Prof. Goran Mutabdzija, and the Deputy Minister, Ms Radmila Pejic, the Deputy Minister of Family, Youth and Sport, Ms Branka Malesevic, and the Rector of the University, Prof. Stanko Stanic.
The official closing ceremony of the 6th Student Sport Games was preceded by the final match in indoor football between the teams of the College of Internal Affairs and the Faculty of Agriculture, the winner of which was the College of Internal Affairs, who defended the last year’s title.
This year’s Games attracted a record number of students: over a thousand students from all 17 organisational units of the University took part in the total of nine disciplines (indoor football, basketball, volleyball, handball, table tennis, chess, swimming and street race), which makes this sports event one of the biggest in the region. During the ten days of the Games, the students competed, won, learned to accept a defeat, and above all promoted a healthy life style and mindset – emphasised the organisers.
Giving medals to the winners, the RS Prime Minister stressed out that little brought such satisfaction in students’ lives as the exam passed and a sports victory, and that the winners are not only those who received the medal, but all the young people who competed and demonstrated sportsmanship.
The students present were also addressed and congratulated for the achieved results by the Deputy Minister of Family, Youth and Sport, Ms Branka Malesevic, and the Minister of Education and Culture, Prof. Goran Mutabdzija, and the Games were officially declared closed by the Rector, Prof. Stanko Stanic.
The sponsors of the “Student Sport Games 2014” were the following: the University of Banja Luka, the City of Banja Luka, the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska.
